A Guide To Add-Ons: For Music Marmalade Musicians

Add-ons provide musicians with a way to enhance their appeal and meet the needs of individual clients by offering additional services alongside their core service. You can utilise the Add-ons feature to offer multiple options, such as different band configurations, extra performances, personalised music arrangements, or extended performances. When you decide to offer Add-ons, we’ll ask you for a few additional details to ensure accurate quotes are provided to your clients. These quotes will consider multiple factors including; members involved in the Add-on, extra travel costs, and layover fees if applicable.

If you offer multiple add-ons, you can organise them into four separate categories, making it easy for clients to plan their events and avoid logistical issues. Clients can select one add-on per category, allowing them a maximum of four add-ons in total. Once you’ve set up an add-on, it will be visible on your artist profile, making it easy for prospective clients to add the service to their quote.

Below, we’ve provided a few examples of how you can utilise the Add-ons feature.

Brass section for wedding

Brass Section

  • You offer a 5 piece band as your core service.
  • Offer a 3 piece brass section as an add-on to appeal to your clients looking for something extra special.
  • This add-on would likely require extra travel expenses for the additional members and potentially layover fees which would be built in to each individual quote automatically as required.
Wedding Ceremony Music

Wedding Ceremony Sets

  • If a few members from within your core service can offer performances that would suit a ceremony, you could offer these performances as add-ons.
  • You could increase your earnings per gig if a client books your core service and decides to also book you for their ceremony. You win by getting 2 gigs in one day without any travel between them, and your client wins by only having to deal with one supplier plus potentially making a saving if you price your add-on competitively.
  • This kind of add-on may or may not need to include extra travel expenses. If the members providing the add-on are from within the core service, we would not need to apply any additional layover fees. When you’re creating an add-on, you’ll be able to specify if/when additional fees should apply.
drinks reception music

Drinks Reception Sets

  • Just like ceremony sets, You may be able to offer performances that would go down a treat at a drinks reception.
  • You could offer a solo guitarist, a solo pianist, or maybe a duo or trio. Depending on what musicians you have available, you could offer multiple configurations to allow the client to choose a set-up that suits them.
  • Again, this kind of add-on may or may not need to include extra travel expenses and likely would not need to include layover fees. You can decide what expenses are necessary to suit your circumstances and the Music Marmalade quote calculator will take this information into account.
wedding music upgrades

Upgrade Packages

  • If you have various set-ups for your band, you could use the add-ons feature to offer different packages. You would offer your smallest set-up as your core service and then allow the client to add additional members to suit them by selecting an add-on package. Let’s call the packages Gold, Silver and Bronze as an example.
  • The bronze package could be your core service plus keys. E.g. your 4 piece core service band made up of a female singer, guitar, bass and drums plus the keys.
  • Silver could be the bronze package plus a brass section.
  • Gold could be the silver package plus a male singer and a percussionist.
musical arrangements

Musical Arrangements

  • If you often have clients ask you for special song requests outwith your usual repertoire or want a song performed in a certain way, you could use the add-ons feature to offer unique arrangements.
  • dThese types of add-ons almost definitely wouldn’t incur additional travel or layover fees so all you’ll need to provide is the set price.
dj add-on

A Few More Ideas For Add-Ons.

There are countless possibilities for what you can offer as an add-on and they can be a great way for you to increase your earnings per gig. When coming up with your add-on selection, keep in mind the logistic issues that can arise when a client selects multiple add-ons throughout the day. You may have to have extra instruments and equipment or you may need to arrive at the venue earlier than usual to allow the event to run seamlessly.

We hope the above examples can provide you with some inspiration for how you can make the most of the add-ons feature.
