Artist frequently asked questions
Katie Wills's FAQ
1. What kind of music do you normally play?
I play songs from as many different genres as possible-I pride myself on my versatility as a musician and my ability to adapt to varieties of genres. If you have a specific preferred genre of music, I am more than happy to tailor my sets to your preferences.
2. How many requests do you take?
Over and above the aisle, signing the register, exit, first dance and father/daughter dance songs, I can take up to 5 requests. Anything above this will incur an extra fee, due to the extra time that it can take to learn new songs.
3. Do you do consultations?
Yes, absolutely! If you have any burning questions or want to discuss any finite details, I am always happy to have a chat. I always do an initial consultation to get a general idea of what you're looking for, song requests, the layout of the venue and where I'll be performing, timings etc. Usually around a month beforehand, I'll do a check in with you to check to see if there's been any changes to be made or to confirm any details that need finalised etc.
4. How far in advance should I give you my requests or make any changes to anything?
As much notice as possible is most appreciated. It can take time to learn songs, especially as a busy musician. But I always ensure I spend time learning songs to the best of my ability. However, if any changes are to be made (including changes to timings, venue etc), a minimum of 2 months in advance, mostly for song requests, is required so that enough time can be spent on learning anything.
5. Do you have your own equipment?
Yes, I do. I have a full PA sound system that I usually bring, as well as my piano and any other instruments etc.
6. Can you set up again somewhere else for another part of the day?
I have done this in the past, and unless it's another room or area that is close by, I tend not to do this now as it can be quite difficult trying to move all my equipment, taking it down and re-setting it back up in another room by myself. And although I have had wedding guests help me in the past, I'd rather the wedding guests just be able to enjoy the day. It makes it a lot simpler if I set up somewhere that you feel could work for both the ceremony and drinks reception.
7. Can you play outdoors?
Yes, I can play outdoors. As long as there's electricity provided for me as well as somewhere I can set up where there's shelter, in case of any change in weather.
